Hi Jane,

Thanks a lot for looking into it further. I had seen him as a John, but I could not remember where. No I haven't any details only whats on here.

I can't say I am surprised at the name changes,  it seems to be the story of my life. On two different documents my grandmother changes her fathers name to Riley. My Grandfather changed his name from Girolomo Gentile to John Taylor to marry a Ann Taylor and then changed it back again when he came to Chester and married my Grandmother.

We might get to the bottom of all this one day any information you have would be appreciated.

Hi George,

The GRO entry is Dec 1868 Gt Boughton 8a 592.  The image is typed and very clearly Thomas PARTING so I suspect this is the name he gave or the original is very difficult to read.

Thanks for the information, I appreciate the help.

I don't have information on the census's 1891 or 1901.

I haven't any idea why they cant be found on the 1861, unless they moved away for a while.

I know in 1890 my grandmother Elizabeth married her first husband John Woods and there were not family witnesses on the certificate.

The 1901 cencus for Elizabeth looks to be some sort of boarding house with lots of people in it and is headed by Charles Overell and his wife Harriet

Am I right in saying Thomas has gone to John, back to Thomas and now to William?Huh?
These are the same they are living next door to my Grandmother at 3 Kilns Court.

William is their son......

Thomas was John only on the 1891 cencus and by 1901 he must have remembered that his name was Thomas  Cheesy
