Hi Anabel
Cannot see any entries for Hugh in 1861 with a Morvern birthplace (also cannot see a corresponding birth entry in Argyllshire for that period  ) Have you got any other info on him that would help to place him such as parents' names.

One possibility with a slightly earlier birth year (would explain why it doesn't show on SP for post 1855 births and the start of official registration). From the transcript for 1861:
