Hi Gerry

David`s father was in modern day terms  was John.

From an Indenture,1756, David was involved in,names a brother William & sister Mary also involved.

It was`nt compleye PRO reckon the Mice had been hungry.

I have Mary`s Baptisum but not William`s or marriage for Mum & Dad.
The records dont seem to go back far enough ,unless i missed something while looking through the PRs.

Just for the record David married an Anne Brown 13 Feb 1767 at Cilmaenllwyd Parish Church,Carms.

Anne was an Inn Keepers daughter  Cheesy

I have a copy of marriage.

PS,This Family History is costing me a fortune, but i like to make sure i get things right & most importantly ,enjoy it.

My ancestor,Stephen Griffiths, lived at Commercial, opposite the Parc y Lan. I have his details, but am having difficulty tracing his father's birthplace. His name was Dan, born around 1823,maybe in Llanfyrnach. His grave is in the village chapel at Llanddewi.
Can anyone help?
The family lived for generations at Stepin,a cottage (replaced in 1904) up on the hill.

No Dan Griffith/s baptized in Llanfyrnach or surrounding parishes, so it's quite likely that the family was non-conformist.

One of my great great grandmothers was Frances Griffiths born about 1821 in Llandewi Velfrey. Her father was Thomas Griffiths, a cooper. At the time of her marriage to William Stephens (of Parc-y-lan) in 1845 she was living at Cross Inn in Llandewi.

Thanks Treharne,
Yes,they were non conformist-my great grandfather was an elder of Bethel chapel I think. Dan was baptized at Henllan chapel in 1822,And I know his father was James, but I am still uncertain where he was born.

Hi Researchers,

Key to blacksmiths.

Sorry, I only have two names so far, perhaps someone could help with the others.

No.1 seated is James Stephens, 1855-1935.
No.3 seated is William Stephens, 1820-1897

Regards

John

I ntoice on this thread that several contributors have knowledge of records relating to Phillips' in Pembrokeshire. My ancestor Levi Phillips was according to the censuses born at Llanddewi circa 1820 and later moved and lived with his family in Aberdare. Wife's name Mary. He died after 1871. Would be very grateful to hear from anyone who knows of a connection to his family or has information regarding him or his family.
