Hi there,
I am looking for the Sellers family of Colyton. John Paris Sellers was born 15th December 1861 according to his naval records.
There is also a Walter Sellers born Colyton 19th Nov 1855 and I am wondering whether they were brothers as the name Walter continued further down (or is it up?) the family line - I had a great Uncle by that name.
I am also wondering whether I can find out where the name Paris came from - a female member of the earlier family's maiden name perhaps? John's BMD entry has been transcribed as Farris!
Many thanks Sue

Hi Sue -
For sure they were brothers.
1861:
RG9 P.1373 Fol 27 Pg 8 Fore Street, Colyton
James Sellers head M 47 Druggist B. Lyme Regis, Dorset Sarah Sellers wife M 42 B. Colyton, Devon William Goodage son-in-law 16 B. Exeter, Devon Thomas Goodage ~ ~ ~ 12 B. Exeter, Devon Samuel M Sellers Son 6 B. Colyton, Devon Walter Sellers Son 5 B. Colyton, Devon Amy Sellers Dau 2. B Colyton
1871
Walter is a Bakers errand boy, living in Kenton.
James Sellers Head M Druggist B. Lyme Regis John P Sellers Son 9 B. Colyton
Can't see Sarah or the others - will keep looking.
But this is certainly the same father, although the index says Tellers, the image is Sellers!

Hi Mum 44
I think it's the timing that determines the red warning (not too sure though) and we were approx 3 minutes apart.

Hi Sue
SARAH Sellers would be around 60 in 1871 and there was no son George on the 1861 census - do you have the correct family?

I'm sure they are - it's unlikely that the 11 year old son of a druggist would be working as a servant
If you check the replies above - there is no son George on the 1861 census and you will see Sarah was 42 in 1861 and 50 in 1871 - it's therefore unlikely she would be 53 in 1871
