William JAMIESON Jnr - Jnr and Mary Urquhart
« Reply #15 on: Monday 24 March 08 10:11 UTC (UK) »

Thanks heaps Ev!

The William Jnr-Jnr is my line Smiley He married another Mary but this time an Uquhart - Mary was very common name in this line and yet none of us have been called it over here in NZ Wink They married on 27 Mar 1897, in Church of Scotland, Brae-of-Findon, Hill of Findon, Portlethan, Banchory, Devenick, Kincardineshire

She came over the NZ but no sign of him, I think he must have died before she emigrated as she is listed as widow on all the notes on this side.

Cheers,

Wink

That's her,

Her parent's were George Urquhart and Jessie Allan

(George's parents were James Urquhart & Catherine Glass and I think Catherine's parents were William Glass and Janet Smith)

(Jessie's parents were Alexander Allan and Helen Hepburn and I think Helen's parents were James Hepburn and Mary)

Mary Jamieson nee Urquhart arrived in New Zealand in 1924.

AS well as the children you found they had my grandfather Ian, though on his birth cert it says John, Walter, James & Peggy - though that may have been her nickname.

Cheers!

hi

"peggy" is usually margaret

scotlandspeople has 2 deaths of a william jamieson in midlothian
in 1903 b. c 1869
and 1915 b. c1868
you might be able exclude the first one given the childrens birthdate
though i can't be certain if either one is him

... John Jamieson (1790 - 1830) from the IGI

May I just say once again "Thank You" so much for all your help!  I'd still be stuck on William Snr without you Smiley

I guess it's official, I am an IGI failure - I can't find his birth and death dates on the IGI. I use the http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true

thingee - am I doing something wrong?  I found an interesting John Jamieson:

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/igi/family_group_record.asp?familyid=172858837&indi_id=500190450832&lds=1&region=2&frompage=1

help....

please....

Hello Kiwi girl

I'm sure I sent a pm on how to search using parents names  :O)

Follow the link you posted.  Enter John Jamieson, and Catherine as the wifes name, enter  the 'Event' box  as 'births/christening' the year as 1810 - the next box as =/- 20 years, enter British Isles, Scotland and 'all counties in the bottom boxes and you'll come up with the list above ? your William snr being their 2nd child.    You won't find his death date on the IGI - as it's outwith their dates.  However - I forwarded a copy of his death entry from Scotlands people which is the offical govt. website.

Shall have a snuffle around regarding the 'interesting' John Jamieson   :O)

If you then do the search as indicated above for the children of the William Jamieson and Elizabeth Collie,  and enter 20 years =/-  of 1785 - 'all counties' in Scotland, you come up with 11 entries - have put them in order.  All Banchory Devenick, Kincardine, Scotland

1. JEAN JAMIESON Christening: 25 JUL 1774
2. JEAN JAMIESON Christening: 14 AUG 1774
3. MARGARET JAMIESON Christening: 26 FEB 1773
4. ELISABETH JAMIESON Christening: 24 JUN 1777
5.  Elizabeth Jamieson  Christening: 29 JUN 1777
6. JANNET JAMIESON  Christening: 23 MAY 1779
7. ISABEL JAMIESON  Christening: 02 SEP 1781
8. CHRISTIAN JAMIESON Christening: 30 NOV 1783
9. JOHN JAMIESON  Christening: 30 DEC 1786
10. ANNE JAMIESON Christening: 01 MAR 1789
11. WILLIAM JAMIESON Christening: 03 APR 1791

The above are a mixture of 'extracted' and 'submitted' entires - that's why the doubles and variance of dates for the same person.   Johns is an 'extracted, record
