Hi K&J
Any idea who she married and where in Gloucestershire it might have taken place?
Do you have her on later censuses?
Where were her children baptised?
kind regards, Arranroots

Looking in the 1851 census for Marys b. Banwell, 1817 (or 5 yrs each side) doesn't bring up a Morris, a Howell or a Britt and a search for Marys born at the appropriate time with those surnames b. Somerset doesn't bring up anything even resembling Banwell.
There's quite a chance she was married bef. registration started.

Furthermore.... There are 5 Mary Anns born between 1812 and 1822 who give their pob as Banwell in 1851.
Their names are Bisdee, Neads, Norvill, Stark and Toms. There is no obvious Mary Wilson marriage to men of these names between 9/37 and 12/52 in Som or Glo. when I search using freeBMD.
Any other clues??

The only info I have is that she was born 1817 at Banwell and her parents were John and Elizabeth Wilson. John was a papermaker. her age on the 1851 census would be33-34.. Does this help narrow down the 5 Mary wilson all from Banwell. Hope so, but many thanks for your help

Have done the same with all the Mary A s who say b. Banwell who are born betw. 1812 and 1822 in the 1851 (Badman, Baker, Cutler, Gill, Oldfield, Palmer) again no luck.
If all you know for certain is her birth, did she perhaps die young in Banwell. I can't see her as Wilson in the 1841 for Banwell.
I don't know if someone may have access to the Banwell PRs
Good Luck,
Louise

And sorry to say, finally, the remaining few Marys with the same profile (Chapman, Cottel, Pipe, West, Wookway) all also draw a blank.

Snipped
Although the LDS has filmed the church records of Banwell, they have not extracted the data from all its church records. However, in LDS Batch number C083401 extracted from the Wesleyan methodist church records is Emelia Wilson d.o. John & Elizabeth. Emelia born 1830 christened 1834 is the only Wilson entry at Banwell.

It would appear that the 1840 Bristol marriage was of Mary Ann Wilson and William Britt. In the 1861 census Mary Ann's mother, Elizabeth Wilson is with them in St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol. Mary Ann gives her pob as Bedminster and the mother, gives her pob as Bristol, St Phillips. Mary's age is also inconsistent with being born in 1817, in '51 she's 31, '61, she's 40, '71, she's 49 and of course your Elizabeth dies in 1849.... so this doesn't look like yours.
There are no other 1837-1842 Mary Ann Wilson or Mary A Wilson marriages in Som & Glo.
I also checked for Mary Wilsons giving pob as Wells, Rickford or Wookey..... no joy. Sorry.
Looks like she's giving a different pob than Banwell(or those other possible places I checked) deceased or emigrated.

I am much obliged to you. Perhaps it was an earlier marriage, or maybe she has died.
Many thanks for all your help
