Thank you for any help
|
Can anyone please help me fill in the gaps in Ernest Dudleys life? He was born in Quatford , Bridgenorth, Shropshire, in 1870. His parents were Richard Dudley, born 1822 Schoolmaster and Ann Butter born1829. He was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Army Medical Corps in the 1914/1918 war. He was killed on the Somme on September 15th 1916 and is buried at Gezaincourt, Somme. This is the extent of my knowledge on the family member. Can anyone please help me fill in gaps in his short life. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Regards, Eric.

Don't know about the 1891. Perhaps he was away with the army, if he was in the army.

Hi Willow 154 Pauline and Silvery, Very many thanks for your constructive replies. You have been a great help in filling in the gaps and making my family tree more interesting. I am not sure about him being an army private in 1891. The family were not military minded. He being the first and only member to serve in the armed services.. It's very possible. Very many thanks, Eric.

Hi Willow 154 Paulene and Silvery, I am curious about Ernest Dudley being at St Botolphs Army Camp in 1891, this camp would appear to be in Colchester, Essex. Not in the district we would associate with meeting his future wife. St Botolphs Day is celebrated on 17th June annually in Nothamptonshire and Nottinghamshire., This would have a connection with his wifes place of birth and her family home . Any idea's? Kind regards, Eric.

There's no way of knowing it is him in 1891. It's just one that fits the details. He may have been missed off, or mistranscribed. It's not too important as we pick up his marriage reference, and the family in 1901.

Hi Silvery, Thanks for your reply, I brought it up thinking you may have found a barracks of a similar name else where. As you say its not that important. Many thanks, Eric.
