Hi Andrea,

I've only got Chesham marriages - not baptisms. However, I notice that the marriages are on the IGI but are those IGIs which are submitted by members of the LDS church, so not necessarily to be trusted.

So, I can confirm that the following marriages did actually take place in Chesham:

7 Dec 1776 Hy Glenister & Ann How
17 Jan 1782 Hy Glenister & Sarah Puddephot [their spelling]

There's no sign of another Henry Glenister marriage to a Dinah in Chesham. They perhaps married in Dinah's home parish - but, because Dinah is a relatively uncommon name, I did a search to see if there were any Dinahs marrying in Chesham between 1782 & 1790. There's only one - Dinah How (!) married Harry Chappell of Berkhamsted on 17 Oct 1786.

As for the children you listed of Henry & Dinahs in Chesham, it could just be a coincidence but the IGI have a Joseph Glenister baptised 1789 in Flaunden, Herts (about 4 miles from Chesham), son of Henry & Mary as well as a James baptised in the same place to the same couple in 1796. There are a couple of other children as well.

I'm not sure where you got the 5 children listed as Henry & Dinah's from?

Sorry, if I've totally befuddled the issue (and myself!!  Grin) but I am just wondering if the 2 families have somehow become confused?

hi
also lists a  marriage henry and mary Spers

13 dec 1783  LATIMER

the igi lists 11 children for them Mostly mother was MRS MARY GLENISTER
( only joseph directly lists mother as SPERS )
in Flauden
From the IGI This henry appears to be christenned in Bovingden  Herts 1760
william and hannah
.
I know people often had children christened in bovingdon   but lived in Chesham .

then his death in 1827 gives  2 sets of  set of Parents

  Henry and Martha Francis
and william anf hannah

do you have access to any of these records

No - sorry, just the marriages and what's on the IGI.

All those children on the IGI for Henry and Mary (including the one that calls her Mary Spers) are IGIs submitted by a member of the LDS church, rather than one transcribed from the actual registers, so treat with caution.

Having said that, it does look as if this Mary may have been Henry's third wife.

Perhaps a request for a look up on the Hertfordshire Board might produce some extra info on this family?

I've just noticed that the Henry Glenister/Mary Spers marriage is on the IGI - a 'kosher' IGI at that!!  Roll Eyes

It's in Latimer, Bucks (again, only about 4 miles from Chesham) on 13 Dec 1783 so looks as if it could fit in with Henry's 2nd wife dying and him remarrying again.

Andrea,

Take a look at the one name glenister study at www.glenister.org and all will be revealed.
The flaunden family is a different family of Glenisters, likewise the Latimer lot.

I am a member of the Glenister clan as my mother is a Glenister and I come from the line you are interested in, I and a few other dedicated members have put a lot into the site run by Andy Glenister and everything is checked and re-checked to be as accurate as possible. the number of the tree you require is 005327 and is titled John and Hannah Parsons. If you click on the names more details appear.

We have found 3 marriages for Henry, Ann How, Sarah Puddehat and Dinah [surname unknown]  Take a look and see
Please come back to me if you have any problems
