Bernard Harriman-COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 19 February 08 14:38 GMT (UK) »

Can anyone please help to find a marriage registration for Bernard Harriman please?

Bernard was born 1902 Langley Mill Derbys/Notts border. Occupation Coal Miner

He only had the name Bernard -his siblings were all given 2 names and used their middle names

His wife's name was Rose

I know from family recollections he lived his life in Langley Mill/Heanor area-also I have him on electoral rolls in 1930's in Langley Mill

I know he had at least one child -possibly 2 -but do not know their names.

I assume he  married before March 1925, as  I have a newspaper report dated 13 Mar 1925 where Rose Harriman applied for a separation order against Bernard  and Bernard agreed to pay 20 shillings per week to his wife, Rose.

I don't think he stayed with his wife for very long.

Family knew Rose quite well, but only knew her as "Harriman"

Neither Rose nor Bernard are still living.

I have searched the complete index from 1917-1925 several times and am wondering if I have missed it??

I am beginning to wonder if he eloped to gretna green to marry - although there has never been any information/recollections to suggest this???

Anyone any further ideas??

Tati,

Thank you so much -I must have had blinkers on - -mind I don't think I was meant to find the marriage

Bernard was my grandfather's brother -and it now seems he married my great aunts daughter !!!

Thanks so much

Well, as long as it stays in the family  Tongue

Maybe explains why your family knew Rose quite well eventhough Bernard and her were seperated!  Smiley
