Wellington, Upper Hutt
« on: Tuesday 19 February 08 21:14 GMT (UK) »

Hello everyone
I have Henry Charles Young died 1896 in Upper Hutt, Wellington.  On his death certificate it says that he had a daughter still living and she was 17 years old.  Henry's wife is Amelia (Emilia).
I would like to know who this daughter is.  Is there  a way to know  what the daughter's name is?  She would have been born around 1879.  Henry and Amelia married in 1876.  More likely the daughter was born in Wellington .
Thank you for your help.

Hi Hera

This may be of no use at all ?   Smiley

NZ Birth Index  -  Births registered at Wellington - 1879

>    Florence Lilian YOUNG  - Folio # 3452 - 4th quarter

>    Annabella Beadon YOUNG -  Folio # 3490 - 4th quarter

[Just the two female births for "YOUNG" in Wellington for that year].

No sign of Henry's wife Amelia (Emilia) - (with a daughter) on Electoral rolls for 1902 or 1905-6 in the Hutt area.

Neither could I find possible marriages for the "Florence or Annabella"  born 1879.
 Sad

Does Henry's death cert. show his last place of residence and his burial place (cemetery)  ?

Hello and thanks so much for your help.
This is what the death certificate says.
Died 8th December 1895.
Buried 11. January 1896 Upper Hutt.
I wonder why it took so long to bury him.
The coroner was James Ashcroft.
His wife Amelia and one living issue female 17 years.
As far as I know this would be his only living child.  I sure would like to know if she had any descendants.
Thanks again for all your help,

I guess the daughter could have been born between 1878-1800 depending when the death certificate was signed 1895 or 1896.

I guess the answer to that question could well lie there!

I found out through a newspaper article thHenry collapsed and there was an inquest into his death.  I think they thought there was foul play.  The coroner did not confirm any finding the heart just gave up.
I'm still looking for the daughter.  The wife Amelia or Emelia in Italian might have gone back home to Italy.
Thanks
