Hello,
I am looking for any Child deaths in Stockport between 1875-1881.
My Gt Grandfather William Challenner m Elizabeth Clegg 20.9.1875, by the 1881 census William has disappeared. Elizabeth is living with her Father and sister.
in 1884 William surfaces in Southport, he is on the 1891 census at 77 Poulton Road with another Elizabeth and here he stayed till his death in 1909.
Elizabeth ( Dougherty),is in fact my Gt Grandmother. it would appear they never married?
the reason i'm interested in child deaths is what made William run?
the family then kept his whereabouts a secret and he did he drink a lot?
any thoughts what else to look for? other than a childs death maybe?

ps Elizabeth Clegg retained the name Challenner till she died and never re-married

Found the death of  a Joseph Clegg Challener age 0 in Stockport in 1877.
