I can't see what * refers to. The name John is underlined. No other baptisms for John & Elizabeth.

Checked the burials but this is all it shows.

                     Wit Mary Times John Alcock   banns

16.3.1804  xTaylor/Kite William
                    Bird Elizabeth botp

                 (note - the Banns read William Kite - marriage William Taylor - signature x William Kite ? William Taylor written in error ?above entry)

This is all from the transcription & not my thoughts on it!

No marriage for a John & Elizabeth.

No sign of any marriage for a John KITE/KYTE and Elizabeth on the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837).

Epwell is right on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire county boundary - perhap Elizabeth came from Warwickshire and the marriage took place in that county?

The IGI has a marriage for a John KITE and Elizabeth HAYNES in 1789 in Haseley (near Leamington Spa), which is about 20 miles from Epwell - possibly worth investigating further?

Thanks Maggie and Pennie. Sorry it's taken a while to reply but the wife is suffering with a possible slipped disk in the lower back, my hands have been tied to say the least. Maggie you have hit on the problem that we are having in that two baptisms in the same year from the same village, plus both married to a Elizabeth. We are all but certain that one of them is the right one. But deciding which one is the problem??? Thank you both for your efforts and we will look into the possibility that they married in Warwickshire.
