Hi Dof,

I think your family appears on the 1891 Cencus at the Police Office, No.100 (*Unknown Road), Village of Millersron, Parish of Hogganfield, School Board District of Shettleston, Civil Parish of Barony, Part of North West Lanarkshire.

(Ref: Cencus 1891, 622/02/001/02 022)

William Fraser, age 27, Head, Police Constable, born Inverness-shire (speaks Gaelic and English)
Mary Fraser, age 23, wife, born Orkney
May Fraser, age 2, daughter, born Cambuslang, Lanarkshire

*The name of the road isn't anywhere on the page but I think it will have been Cumbernauld Road.

On the 1881 Cencus, if we accept that William was born in Inverness-shire and would be 17 years old - this might be him living as a lodger:

Russells Land, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire
Helen Whiteford, Head, Seamstress, widow, age 37
William McGowan, Lodger, Pit Engineman, unmarried, age 29
William Fraser, Lodger, Moulder, unmarried, age 18, place of birth - Inverness

I would imagine they would be easy enough to find on the 1901 Cencus?

Anne

Hi Dof,
so I have sent you on post about the marrage cert but may have posted to the wrong person.

Decendants:

May Stout Fraser: 6th sept 1888 @ cop shop on Clydeford Rd Cambuslang
Married: May Stout Hume to John Chapman Hume 1968

Note: My Great grandmother:

Mary Mccleannon Freaser abt 1893 Millerston Lanarkshire
Married ? 1901 living at Old Molkland Western District Lanarkshire.

William Fraser abt 1897 same adress as Mary
Possibly Married
Caroline Craig with daughter Ruby Fraser

Elisabeth S Fraser 19th Nov 1899 + - 1 year @ Carstairs Lanarkshire

Catherine Fraser Born after 1901
Married William armstrong
Son:           Scott
Daughter:  Mary

Much of this information came from www.thomasdavidson.com who seams to be related to us through Mary McKays mother and here second husband.

I hope this is all useful to you. We have managed to follow the Fraser /McIntosh line back a couple more generation. We have been stuck on the McKay/ Stout Mc?Huh side as we cannot find either. we would wolcome any suggestions or knowlege you might have.

I hope that this finds you well.

Thanks Akalaska  I take it you must be my Aunt Chris's grandson
I had access to the Wm. Fraser Marriage Cet in Rutherglen in 8/12/1887 and also have had great help from the rest of folks on this subject
However you seem to have quite a bit of info that I am lacking and anything you can forward would be much appreciated

I have a problem with Kate (Catherine) Fraser's dob. Her death cert gives it as being 1898 unless I've got the wrong Catherine Leven McIntosh Fraser
It was the McIntosh bit that co-incided with Wm's middle name that convinced me I was right
Also she does not appear in any of the family Census returns

Any ideas?   Dof

P. s.  I've found Death Cert for Catherine Armstrong (nee Fraser) died 1974 aged 83 which confirms DOB as 1891 She died at Larkhall, South Lanarkshire
The Cath. Leven McIntosh Fraser must be Red Herring
