Louie, Louis, Luke, Lawrence confusion of names

The names Louie, Louis, Luke and Lawrence run through my Murphy family tree and are sometimes interchanged. Has anyone else come across this? The names seem to change depending on the generation as well.

Hello kidja,

I've just had a look at the Murphy surname in Ireland at the time of Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) on John Hayes failteromhat.com/griffiths.php website. Lawrence and  Murphy was a popular combination.
