Hi all,

I too am researching AMOS. Different folks as far as I can see, but you never know.

Earliest is Thomas Amos who married Mary Paine in Hanslope Bucks, just across the Northants border, 17 Jan 1746.

My direct ancestors, James Amos and Fanny Taylor moved to Thrapston Northants in the 1800 teens. They were Baptists. Some of their children ended up in Woodford and Kettering, others in Aylesbury and London.

My tree is at http://skinumb.tribalpages.com/

Hello Dethridge,
I have just received the birth cert for my grandfathers sister Alice Amos which gives her mothers maiden name as Ann Amos formerly Dethridge and her husbands name as Theophilus the cert was dated 1877.  The Amos's cannot be found on the 1881/1871 census but appear to be round the Aston area by the way my surname is Amos.  Hope this will help you with this search and any information you may have would be gratefully received

Hello all Smiley,
I have researched the Amos family also. My father was an Amos and his grandfather William Amos  migragted from England in 1884 aboard The Ashmore with his wife Sarah (Packer). They are listed on UK census records as living in Doynton, Gloucestershire in 1861 and 1871 but in 1881 had moved to Clerkenwell, London. I live in Australia and I have no idea if these towns are near the ones you have all mentioned! Anyway glad to hear from anyone that has any info regarding the Amos line, cheers.

Hi Detheridge. I have loads of Amos who are actualy Ames. The name is often mispelt sometimes Amis Amys Eames and so on. Don't hold your breath but all mine are either brickmakers or gunmakers and yes I have two or three Solomons and Theophilis. Mostly come from Utoxeter, Abbotts bromley, Yoxall Leicester, Rugeley, Birmingham and Middlesex. If anyone has ancestors in those area's  PM me with the details of who they are looking for I will do my best to help.
