I am trying to find Joseph Henry Clark and/or his wife Susanna in the 1851 census.
I have them both together in 1841 (Class: HO107; Piece 735; Book: 5; Civil Parish: St James; Middlesex; Enumeration District: 6; Folio: 44; Page: 34; Line: 3; ) with son Henry. The address is Vigo Street.
I have Susanna in 1861 (Class: RG9; Piece: 89; Folio: 100; Page: 14; ) with daughter Emma Susanna.
I have Joseph Henry's will, proved in February 1852 - but I cannot find him or his wife in 1851.
In his will, his address is given as Vigo Street, Regent Street, Middlesex. I think that could have been his address in 1851, too. (He was a Peruke Maker and Court Dress Maker.)
They had other children - Janet Ann born in 1834, Henry Francis born in 1840 and Eliza born in 1830 (I have all info about Eliza who was my Gt Gt grandmother).
The only child mentioned in the will is Emma Susannah (unmarried in 1852), so maybe the others died young..... also mentioned is a nephew, Thomas.
I would be very grateful if someone could find in 1851 them for me - and any other information about them or the children would be gratefully received!

Hello again Sue,
Have one more quick question - In the 1851 census, his place of birth is given as Northam Tharpstone - I suppose they mean Northamptonshire - do you think I should consider this place of birth as correct, rather than the one in 1841 which gives him as born in in the county of Middlesex? I suppose that 1851 would be more reliable?
I'd be grateful for your advice

I would tend to go for the 1851 as being more reliable. I have rellies that were said to be born in county in 1841 when they weren't.
You could put out a plea on the Northants board to see if someone could do a lookup for you at the local Record Office.
Do you have the marriage cert?
Nothing to lose and everything to gain.
