Quakers in Athy
« on: Sunday 24 February 08 15:20 UTC (UK) »

Would anyone know where I could check on Quaker records in Athy.

My GGGGrandfather Adam Torbet (Talbott) moved from Scotland to Birtown, outside Athy in the early 1850's and I am wondering if he was a Quaker as he actual religion is not clear.  I know he was not RC and am almost certain he wasn't COI.

Taid,
Thanks for that info.  The link to the Quakers was an incorrect one on my behalf.  However, the link you provided me with has mention of "15 Presbeterian families being rought from Perth, Scotland to Athy by the Duke of Leinster", this has clarified the question I had regarding my GGGgrandfather's religion.  I'll try now to get some further info on this settlement.
