Hi, Carol,
Will see what I can find today at the CCRO, though Wisbech is always a bit tricky there,

Carol,
Yes, Wisbech did turn out to be not at all straightforward.  There are no transcripts for baptisms at Wisbech St Peter in 1798, and none on microfilm of the original entries.  However, I did try and search for a marriage of a Thomas and Harriet KENRICK/KENDRICK, working back from 1798.  I got as far as 1788 before I gave up the hunt.
Quite possible that this marriage took place somewhere else nearby, of course.
Sorry I couldn't find anything new for you...

Hi again, David,
You can see I've been away from here and therefore off the pace, somewhat!  Didn't realise that I might be heading to the CCRO till a phonecall this morning, so had a quick look at any apparently unanswered posts on the Cambs boards and dashed off.  Sorry I didn't give you or anyone else prior warning...
The place is looking good now, though...

Hi Keith

Thanks very much for trying. I appreciated you taking the time to search for the marriage.

Carol,
That's fine, it was actually quite fun hopefully looking through those original marriage entries for the late 18thC.  They were really clearly written out, and a pleasure to read - sometimes those early-ish records can be an absolutel nightmare to scrutinise.  Perhaps if I'd carried on a bit further I might have found the entry we wanted.  Do you have any idea whether Elizabeth had other, older siblings, and therefore a marriage of her parents that could have been even earlier than 1788...?

Hi Keith

I'm not 100% sure about siblings. At the moment I am just going on what I have found on the IGI. Elizabeth was my 4 x gt grandmother. Her 2nd marriage was in Nottingham and father named as Thomas who was a vitualler. She died in Nottingham in 1882 aged 84. On one census she give her bithplace as Wisbeach.  The only other baptism I can find is for a Sophia baptised to Thomas Kendrick & Harriott Weston in 1790 in Hundingdon.

Thanks once again for your help

Carol,
Well, that 1790 baptism looks very much like it could be a sister to your gt-gt-gt-gt-grandmother, so every indication that the marriage could have taken place somewhere in the 1780's.  Also, Huntingdon is some way from Wisbech, so that marrriage and the baptism of other siblings may well be recorded in other parishes, making things even more difficult to track down..
