Melbourne Meet - 19th October 2008
« on: Monday 25 February 08 07:46 GMT (UK) »

Hi all,
don't panic, a year hasn't gone by that quick.
Lones reminded me today that we need to make a decision on dates for the interstaters, and anyone having to come a long distance, allowing plenty of time to make plans for the trip  Grin

We decided to stick with October, and on a Sunday as both seemed succesful last year.

Here are the dates for October:
5th October
12th October
19th October
26th October

There is a strong chance Wink it may be at my place again, and if we are real lucky, I could have a nice little deck at the back door. Cool
Plans in the making!!!!

Ok, so now it is up to you, let us know what dates are a definate 'NO', and we will work from there.

And I have plenty of time to work on a quiz  Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue, separating you know who.

Margaret

Looking forward to it, any of the dates suit me.

I hope to see all the old friends (from last year) and meet a heap of new ones too.  Cheesy Cool Cool

I'd really love to come......but the first two dates are not good for me....school holidays still in one state or the other, making travelling on public transport and accommodation a problem.

I'd definitely prefer one of the later dates.

Hi Dee,
the first Sunday in October is the 7th, which is still part of school holidays here in Victoria, so I think I can safely say that we will disregard that one.

It is a good thing you are on the ball and checking school holiday times.
thanks for that  Grin
I think having the last two dates as the better option is a safe idea.

Just had our first quote come in for our deck Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

I'd love to meet you, Margaret and dee!  Must see if I can find several other good reasons to spend money on an air fare to Melbourne at that time!  Grin Grin  (Need to justify it with my Scottish soul and my retired person's bank account!)

It'll be a train trip for me, Marie....I can't fly.....
And like you, I have to investigate the costs. My first priority this year is a big trip to Sydney to see my new grandchild who is due today! (First baby so could be days late!)

But I am planning on getting there at this stage. There are some family history things I'd like to do while I am there as well .......like visit Phillip Island where my gg-grandfather established the Isle of Wight Hotel, and the St Kilda Cemetery where he and his little son Freddie are buried.

Wonderful news about your grandchild about to arrive, dee!!!

If I went by train it would take forever, from Queensland!  And unfortunately I don't really have much in the way of family connections in Victoria!  Ho hum...

Shouldn't really need too many excuses to visit beautiful Melbourne!  Though if there is some decent cricket on, that will be another important factor!  Grin Grin

Hi Dee,
please let us all know of your new arrival Wink

MarieC, that would be brilliant if you could get down South.  If I had the room I would put you both up.

Seems to me that the 28th looks like being a winner.
Unless there is any major problems.

So everyone, tell your family, no weddings on that day or babies born, or getting sick  Grin

Lones, any comments on that date?

So, Margaret,

Can I put 28th in my diary, just in case I can make it?

Cazza59, are you in Queensland?  Or where?
