Can anyone help me with the details for George Rae born c 1841 in Newhills, Aberdeen. He married Margaret McGregor about 1862 and was living at 92 John Shop Aberdeen St Nicholas in 1871. His occupation was a Tailor employing 1 man. By 1891 he was living in Glasgow Dennistoun.
If you can give me his parents names, that would ne very welcome too.
Regards,
Margaret

Hi Margaret
With Isles's parents' info, this looks like the family entry for 1841. Everyone showing as born in the county:
William Rea 30, farmer Isabel Rea 30 Alexander Rea 15 Ellen Reep 15 William Rea 8 Janet Rea 6 Isabel Rea 3 Ann Rea 1 George Rea 1
Address:Fernhill, Newhills
For the 1841, ages for everyone over 15 were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5 yrs, children under 15 are supposed to show at their actual age.
Regards.
Monica

Hello Margaret
From the IGI. An 'extracted' record: George Rae married Margaret McGregor on 31 Dec 1862, St Nicholas, Aberdeen. (a copy of the marriage extract from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk will confirm both parents names)
? Do you have all the children to this marriage or all the children from his father and mothers marriage? - before I or others go off searching :O) - or I can send you a pm with how to do it on the IGI :O)
Regards, Steve

Many thanks Monica for that lovely info. So the father was a farmer!
Yes Steve, any help you can give me with searching this family I can do with. I haven't got William's father and mother yet. I assume there will be more children after 1841 but only have George after he married, his wife and children so far.
Kind regards to you both,
Margaret

I have been trying to find details of William and Isabella Rae. This is much appreciated as James Rae born in 1846 is my Great Great Grandfather. He is the brother of George that Margaret is looking for. James married Mary Watt and relocated to Leith Edinburgh with his 12 children around 1886 where a further son was born.
