Hi Matilda

In view of the number of parish churches in the area that's quite a big ask  Wink

Gloucestershire Family History Society has a database of baptisms and may be able to help.

Hi Matilda

The Golden Valley is an area between Gloucester and Cheltenham, so looks as if your family spent time travelling between the two places.

Have you looked at http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ for their births, not all records have been transcribed, this is an ongoing project by volunteers, but you may be lucky.  Sending for a birth certificate would give you an address to help narrow down the area.

To throw a spanner in the works perhaps, do not forget the very lovely Golden Valley near Chalford and Brimscombe in S GLS.  But I expect it was not so lovely when all its mills and foundries were working in the 18/19th C.

Hi Matilda

In the right area for the Golden Valley.  Starting from Gloucester then on to Churchdown, Staverton, Swindon Village, Cheltenham, Prestbury.

Have a look at multimap, http://www.multimap.com/ in search put Churchdown GL3, you can then see where the places are in relation to each other.  A google search will give you information on the places.

Another option have a look at Genuki for Gloucestershire http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/GLS/
