Good morning from Australia! Cheesy I hadn't checked this board for a little while, but wow, what a response! That photo is truly great. I am still trying to find out more about the workers on that tunnel. Are there truly no records? Huh Should I be looking somewhere else, e.g. Maritime Museum etc?
Around 1837/41 my ancestors lived at 4 Eaves Place, Adam street (also known as Neptune Court) in Rotherhithe, virtually at the tunnel entrance. Is there anybody out there who had somebody live there during that time that might have some knowledge of contact with my family? The names are Thomas and Mary Hannam with their children William, Sarah & John. By the way, a woman was sharing their house by the name of Rebecca Boreham, a 40 year old char woman. Does anybody know about her??? ???It would be so great to find them!!! See ya Dee

Hi Hannamgirl.
Glad to see you back. I don't have a direct answer for you but, if you haven't read it, get a copy of Isambard Kingdom Brunel by L.T.C.Rolt It is good reading and might give you a lead. There have been several editions since it was first published in 1957 so it shouldn't be too difficult to find.
If I can tweak the right buttons, here is another view.
Good hunting. Toby.
