Midland Railway employee look up
« on: Monday 25 February 08 14:15 GMT (UK) »

George Clark(e) was a luggage guard on the Midland Railway living in Carrington St Place Derby. He appeared on the 1851 census aged 39 in this occupation but on the 1861 census his wife Eliza was listed as a widow and had returned to Birmingham.I need to find out whether he died as a result of an accident on the railway and when. In addition when he began his employment with the Midland. Thanks

First thing to do is to obtain a copy of his Death Certificate.

Hiya termar

Welcome to Rootschat!

I dont know if this might have something about him http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/eventlisting.php Its not a full list of all deaths but you might be lucky

As goff153 said the only way to be positive of what the cause of death was is to order the death certificate

Hhhmmmm!

There isnt a death listed for a George Smith in Derby before 1870 except for one in 1842

This could be fun to track down .......

Perhaps so, but West Derby is Liverpool isn't it?
