I am so sorry Suzard, you are quite right - Jane is from Blackwell in all the census , from 1861 when Edward is a grocer and farmer, up to 1881 when they are at Cliff Farm. All I can say is I`ve looked at so many Edges in the last few days, I`m close to jumping off one trying to find which is mine.
I now need to backtrack and find who was from Duckmanton.
The marriage was definately registered in Mansfield though . Thanks all for taking an interest.
I am in North Wales, but my friend from the Edges is in Tasmania.

Just found that it was George Edge`s second wife Mary Needham b c 1791 that was from Duckmanton.
I `m trying to see if they were Edwards parents, I can`t find him on any census living with parents, that`s why I wanted the marriage.
I have no knowledge of the area at all, so apologise for the confusion with Notts and Derbyshire

You are on the correct board -as your relatives were born in Derbyshire and possibly married in Derbys - its just Mansfield which is in Notts -but as I've explaine the name of the registration district is not necessarily the name of the town/village where the BMD took place.
It's always confusing when a reg dist covers parts of 2 counties _I live in the middle of it all - always say my life story will be entitled "neither here nor there"!!!!
I think the IGI baptism is a pretty good bet for Edward -he has left home by 1841 -I'll see if I can find any possibilities for his parents
Of course the best thing to do is order the marriage cert which would give Fathers names and occupations and would confrm (hopefully) the information found

This sounds possible, the note book says that George ? and Hannah Marriott of Alderwasley went to Shootersled, but I think that should be Shooterlea, There then follows a list of names - presumably their children. They are George, Mary, Edward, Bessie, Isaac, William, Maria and John. No dates. This noe book was written after 1952 so where they info came from is any one guess. Thanks again for your help.
