Hi
Can anyone be so kind as to advise me if Ripon is near to Skelton?

Only seeking an illusive relative who on the 1851cenus says his place of birth is Boroughbridge Skelton - yet there is no birth details for anyone with the same surname for that year for that area - nearest to it is in Ripon!?

There is a Skelton on Ure near Ripon.

If you go to this link for genuki description of the parish of Ripon, then click on 'nearby places' at the top, scroll down and click on the map reference for Skelton, and you'll see the map, which might make things a bit clearer
