Lewis Wilcher of Digby Staffordshire.
« on: Tuesday 26 February 08 12:40 GMT (UK) »

My great great Grandfather, Lewis Wilcher, was born around 1787, at either Birmingham Warwick, or, according to the 1851 census, at Digby Staffordshire. I have had no luck looking in Warwick. Could some kind person please check Digby, Staffordshire for me. There is no IGI record 1782 - 1792

I know it is in Warks, but could it possibly have been Digbeth?

Hi Handm
Maybe. I guess whoever colloected the census might have made a mistake. I take it you are saying there is no Digby but there is a Digbeth

Hello again,

Yes, I cannot locate a Digby in Staffordshire, but Digbeth (Warwickshire) is part of Birmingham.

Hi Handm
Your suggestion bore fruit! I wasn't immediately successful, but another Rootschatter, Donna, found my Lewis Wilcher as Lewis Willshaw, son of Joseph willshaw and Elizabeth, christened 8 Oct 1787 in Birmingham.
I couldn't have done it without your help
Much appreciated
