Beattie Help in Directories??
« on: Wednesday 27 February 08 02:59 GMT (UK) »

Would anyone be able to help with some Directories information around 1915-1935?
I have a family named Beattie that I am researching & require some information on them
They were William (father)
                  Ada      (mother--nee'Wood)
                 William (son)
                  Eric        (son)
                  Iris (daughter)
                  Edna (daughter)
The only information that I have is that Eric,Iris & Edna were born in Birkenhead ,County: Cheshire, Merseyside.

Regards
TIA

Hi Baldy
I can do a look up in the library for you in the directories for 1920/21 and maybe a couple of others unfortunately the library doesn't have the full set of 1900 directories until the 1950's.If a search is under surname it only gives the address and occupation, nothing else.If a street is known it only gives the name of the house holder.William might possibly been found under occupations as well.Beattie is a common name in this neck of the woods Grin

There is only one Beattie in Birkenhead in the on line directory, Cheshire has poor coverage :(Kelly's directory for Cheshire 1914 image 144.You  could have look in that one in the main index for all of Cheshire. You could also try typing in the name Beattie in the search directory.I wouldn't recommend it though because it brings up all those surnames in whole of Cheshire Grin The books are better Grin
copywrite wont let me put a link to the directory. So just look for Historical Directories
