Owston Ferry look up please.
« on: Wednesday 27 February 08 23:01 GMT (UK) »

Can anybody find me the marriage record of Ethel Gleadle and James Snowden in Owston Ferry, somewhere around 1826, also the death record of Ethel around the early 1930's.
    Thanks,
      Pat.

Hi Pat,
Do you really mean a marriage c1826 or c1926? If it's the same Ethel 1826 for a marriage is way too early. I have looked at 1826 and there is no Gleadle / Snowden marriage there. I only have the records up to 1923 for marriages so didn't find anything there.
I did find this from the Owston Ferry Cemetery records:
"In loving memory of Ethel Maw, beloved wife of John James Snowden, of Owston Ferry, who passed away September 12th 1934, aged 28".
Hope it helps,
Kate.

  Hi Kate,
Slip of the keyboard- yes I did mean 1926. Ethel May Gleadle was born in Owston Ferry in June 1906. She was a half-sister to my Mother-in -law. I didn't know she existed until 2 weeks ago - I thought I'd found all the siblings, having been told that there were 5 from each marriage. I was given an address for a family relation who gave me the name Ethel May, and that she had married james Snowden, and that she died young in a tragic accident when the garden shed caught fire. This certainly fits in with what you've just given me.

    Thanks for your help,
           Pat.
