I know this is going back a long way, but just in case someone out there is interested in this period. I have a Walter Hieron who was Vicar/Curate of Stapenhill from about 1600 - 1636. I have found one Google reference to him. I have also found him on CCED.
His son was John Hieron, a well known non-comformist of the day and I have heaps of information on him.
What I am trying to find out is where Walter Hieron (or Heyrne, etc. etc.) was born, when, and especially who his father was. I thought he was the grandson of my ancestor Robert Heyrne of Chipping Campden, Glos, but now I am not so sure.
Hoping someone can help
Mary

Have you discovered where he was educated. At that time it would probably have been one of the major universities. The almunii of that university, some of which are online, will often reveal their father, school and place of birth.

Hi David
I have checked both Oxford and Cambridge but cannot find Walter. His son John is listed in the Cambridge records, which state that his father was Walter Hieron Vicar of Stapenhill which is how I found him. I have been in touch with the Derbyshire Records Office who have given me a couple of contacts so will try them.
Cheers Mary
