My 3G grandmother, Mary Crutch/Crouch married James Piddington 6 Feb 1840 in Chearsey, Buckinghamshire.
Has anyone got access to Chearsley PRs who could let me know who she gave as her father?

I see she had a sister Rosetta b 1812 who married William Briant in 1852 but are as married in 1851 census. Wonder who she gives as father?
Also a George bap 1834....
no other entries for the name .

Mary Crutch snr was unmarried, had Mary Crutch jnr c 1816.
Mary Crutch jnr had George Crouch, my 2G grandfather c 1835, Chearsey, Bucks (from census). This was before she married James Piddington in 1840.
Have you the details for George Crouch baptism 1834, most likely to be 'my' George?
Rosetta is a new name to me, what details are there for her?

I have just looked in IGI and found baptism of Rosetta Crutch 29 Mar 1812, Chearsley, mother Mary
Unfortunately, no Mary Crutch, mother Mary, but from census info she was born c 1816, which is not covered by IGI.
And you say there aren't any other Crutch/Crouch references anyway.
Mary Crutch snr never married, though she was given as a widow in 1861 census.
I will definitely have to look into Rosetta Crutch further.
Have had a quick look, she was living in the same house (different household) to William Briant in 1841!!

I have the parish records for Chearsley in print .
29 March 1812 Rosetta illegitimate daughter of Mary Crutch.
14 May 1815 Mary illegitimate daughter of Mary Cruch ( as spelt)
17 Aug 1834 George illegitimate son of Mary Crutch of Chearsley.
Let me know if you would like any more on Chearsley

Tazz, You are an absolute star!
Thank you very much indeed.
George went by the surname Crouch in later census and BMD records - in 1841 when living with mother and stepfather he was Crutch, in 1851 he is possibly given as Chruch, after that the name of Crouch is used consistently.
