INSKIP family of Northill
« on: Thursday 28 February 08 07:45 GMT (UK) »

Morning;   I have the two following baptisms at Northill of children of Robert & Elizabeth Inskip but they do not appear on 1851 / 1861 census, so can someone check for deaths / burials please.

John Inskip      26 Nov 1842
Thomas Inskip 24 May 1846

Robert Inskip (b1818 Northill) married Elizabeth Partridge at Sharnbrook in 1841, their first child Susan was born in Sharnbrook but baptised Northill. Other children were born & baptised Northill.

Regards John

Thank you David,

There were a few FreeBMD death indexes for both names in the Biggleswade RD  between 1842 & 1850.

Do you have Northill PRs ?  Can you check if you can find Robert's parent's marriage. They were John Inskipp & Hannah; their first child Sarah was baptised 1804.

As to June, I have a BFHS meeting Friday 6th, so I can do any no.of days between 10th thru to 19th; whatever suits best.

Cheers John

Nothing in Northill I'm afraid. BUT...

IGI (member) has John Inskip and Hannah Horsford at Kimbolton on 12 May 1798. It's on Hunts marriage Index (both otp) so is genuine. Member submissions also for two children, Mary in 1799 and Edward in 1801 in Kimbolton

Edward Inskip marr Lucy Tingey in Northill in 1822. In 1851 still in Northill Edward Inskep husband of Lucy gives his birthplace as Kimbolton

make sure you're here for a Saturday!

Thanks for that,

There's a member's IGI submission suggesting John was born about 1775 Kimbolton,  whilst Hannah Horsford could be christened 16 Apr 1775 at Kimbolton, parents Edward Horsford & Mary Aspland.

I also noted on the IGI their son John Inskip chr 1807 married Amy Tingey on 10 Dec 1831 at Northill.  So were Lucy & Amy sisters ?

Of course I wouldn't miss the Saturday; think it'll be from Wed 11th & go back Wed 18th. If that's OK I'll book flights this evening.

Yep, dates are fine with me.

You remember my Sabeys which you did lookups for a few months ago - they also married into the Tingey family - and Tingey Sabey lived a couple of doors from Edward Inskip.

The Tingeys weren't direct line but I've often threatened to have a look at them. OK, you've persuaded me!

David

PS that member sub birth c1775 Kimbolton is pure fantasy!

Don't look too hard - there's a danger here that we might find out that we're related ! albeit via someone marrying someone marrying someone else.

The Elizabeth Partridge at the start was sister to my Great Grandfather John P 1822 Sharnbrook.

1841 census has the families of Edward & Lucy Inskip living next door to Robert & Elizabeth Inskip, next door to Samuel Wooward who married their sister Sarah Inskip.

There's a John Inskip baptised at Northill on 2 Jul 1775, parents Edward and Mary, who looks favourite.

The first two children of the John who married at Kimbolton were Mary and Edward....

There were only three Inskip marriages in Hunts before John - the latest of those being 1741 also at Kimbolton. Oddly the first in 1716 was Mary Inskip from Northill at Lt Paxton.

Amy Tingey chr 1810 seems to be daughter of John Tingey & Edith.

Cannot find a baptism of a Lucy Tingey around 1794 (as per 1851 census) but she could be the widow of Joseph Tingey who married Lucy Rawlins on 21 Nov 1817. She was chr 19 Jun 1796 Northill to William Rawlins & Sarah.
