Richard Cowie again
« on: Thursday 28 February 08 10:00 UTC (UK) »

Richard Cowie was born around about 1815 and married Mary Ann Hay in 1841. he was born in Airdrie in Lanarkshire and i think he died there too.

Ive searched and searched and cant find the parents names or their date of marriage.
I'm begining to think Richard just appeared one day, very frustrating.

If anyone could help me find the names of his parents it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for listening to me have a whinge

lokking for Cowie's and richard cowie

Just linking your previous threads so others don't repeat census/BMD searches. Smiley For Richard's parents, have you viewed the 1886 death record on ScotlandsPeople, mentioned by sancti in the second thread above? If this is your man, it should list his parents' names. Wink It's similar with Mary Ann; there's a 1899 death in Airdrie for a Mary Ann Cowie, other surname Hay.

Richard Cowies' parents were Archibald Cowie and Agnes Aitken and Agnes' parents were James Aitken and Mary Gardner.  This information was from Agnes' death certificate and Scottish church records.  Feel free to get in touch.  I have Richard Cowie in my family tree.
