Most Internet Service Providers (ISP's) offer free webspace when you sign up to them. I like many others here have pages I would like to update, I could move my site to another webspace, but I wouldn't want my "old" pages turning up here once I have done that. I don't know if the server is "down" or "gone with the wind." If I did that I do not know how to delete pages I do not have access to. Is there someone who could do it for me? It would be nice to know what is happening because I've read lots of queries on various threads relating to this, but there has been no response this year from an informed administrator. Sorry to be a fidget.

I have been considering moving my site too, as I have quite a number of updates to make.  However, I would really like to stay with RootsChat as it is the most appropriate place for my site, especially as I have received so much help from RootsChat over the years.

Any updates on developments please.

The main names that I am researching into at the moment are Cadman,(originating from Bulkington, Warwickshire), Smedley, (Leicestershire and Derbyshire), Paynes (Leicestershire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire) and Udall - you will also find several other names on my web page. I look forward to E-Mails from anyone who would like to share or talk about our family history.

Sunnyboy

I've used my ISP's freespace for years and never had any down time.

You have full control over it, just as you should have done on rootschat by using your FTP program to upload files, overwrite them and delete them.

You obviously can't delete anything until the rootschat webspace server is back on-line but when it is you should be able to delete files in the usual way using your FTP program.

I've entered my tree on Tribal pages, I've tried various methods of putting my tree up over the last couple of years and finally found one I like.  I like the layout and the fact I can have control over who views it by having a password.

When my rootschat website comes back into life I am going to link it to my Tribal pages site and the rootschat part will become the narrative site.  At least now I have somewhere to direct people who want to find a link.

Trystan is away on business this week. I can however tell you that we have just took delivery of a new server so hopefully it should be up and running very soon.

You mean Trystan arranged for it to be delivered and then scarpered - typical man  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Grin Grin Grin

If its anything like our server at work, it performs best with a bit of love and attention every now and again and the occasional kicking  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
