Does anyone have any knowledge relating to the old Rose and Crown Hotel in Upwell as it relates to its heritage?
In a will of my gggg uncle John BERRY in 1819, he bequeathed the Rose and Crown to his eldest son, John Berry junior and his wife Tansley who then operated the hotel for some years. This hotel, I believe was located at 16 Foot Bank in Upwell and I understand it is now closed and has possibly been turned into a family home after some renovations.
I have been trying to determine who owned and operated the hotel prior to John (senior) which would be in the mid to late 1700's and early 1800's. The website www.norfolkpubs.co.uk doesn't seem to have much information relating to its heritage.
Also, would anyone have a picture of the hotel?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Regards, Syb
