Hi - are you useing Ancestry?  it has been mucking about for days,  unfortuantly although I can get at some of the other census's through a different source,  they don't have 1901

I did have one thought on the name change to Warren,  I have occasionally seen examples of someone leaving a will,  when they leave things conditional upon the inheritee changing their name to the one of the person leaving the stuff,  not sure it would work in this case cos it usually involves houses or property

Hi Debbie,

Ancestry keeps falling off air...every time I try & open an original Census image, - very frustrating!!!

I'm very perplexed by this name change...:-(

I suppose it might be worth trying to do a Probate Search? (I've tried looking on the LDS Search site, - but that seems to be problematic today too!
Possibly another approach would be to try searching for a change of name announcement in the Oxford Local Paper for the late 1870's...

Many Thanks for all the help, (I won't tell you how long Wombat & I have spent mulling over this one!! Grin Grin Grin).
Cheers, Romilly.
