I am trying to find out info about the surname Deepup. MY 9 times great grandmother a bridget deepup married a john image in 1701 peterborough cathedral. Some have said that the surname is dutch i not sure. Other spellings are depupe and deepeupp which sound french. By the 1800's there were no more deepup's which might suggest they had a name change. Can anyone help wiith this surname or people descent from deepup's
Avongirl, I'll see whether I can discover anything at the CCRO today about your DEEPUP family, though Peterborough might be somewhat off limits... keith
Avongirl, Not much to report back on, I'm afraid, as the only reference to your DEEPUP family I could find was on the card file system there. A marriage on 21st January 1755 between a Valentine DEEPUP and a Mary BURROUGHS of Peterborough, Northants. Perhaps you should repost on the Northants boards for more help, but at least it's another brief sighting of this most unusual family name... keith
