Im new at this so can someone please tell me how I can find vital records for Manitoba?
Id like to be able to search for them myself, so's I can learn how to do it, but a pointer in the right direction would be a real help please.
Im looking for a marriage about 1920 thru 1930. A friend told me there are sites where you can subscribe but if its free its better!

Welcome to rootschat Here are lots of resources for Manitoba, vital stats is the first link http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,218830.0.html
Oh, must add...it doesn't always work, so if you have a message for a surname only that says no matches...check for just the surname Smith...and if it still says no matches, you know you need to shut it down and try again...0
yep....It once worked aces, but lately it sucks big time... J.J.
P.S....Have fun...let us know if you need help...

Hi again. I got too busy last night so it had to wait until today. Hey thats life!
I checked out the Manitoba sites, and got nothing useful, but thanks anyways, and I have to say I think I made a mistake. The lady Im looking for died in BC, so she may have lived there all her life, not Manitoba, so maybe I ought to start with her death and work back from that?
How do I find deaths in BC - I think theres a free to look at site somewhere. Can any of you kind people point me in the right direction?

Im back again.
The lady I found her death, but her marriage isnt on that BC site, so maybe she married some place else? She harder to find than Ogopogo ... maybe she married in Sask or Alberta? Her name was Susan Stubbs and she died 1953 age 47, so maybe if she married aged 20, it would be in the 1920s.
Im sure you guys can help me! Sorry, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Hello again !
You are doing very well on RootsChat.
You could try seeing if you can find the lady you are searching for on the 1911 Canadian census, which you can find at
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/index.jsp
but of course she'd be a child then, so you need to know her pre-marriage surname ?
That might give you an idea of where she grew up, and therefore perhaps where she married ?
I'll bet there aren't many RootsChatters who know who Ogopogo is ! I'll give them a hint ... Loch Ness ??

Hi Lydart. Thank you VERY MUCH for that. Ive got 2 people who could be her, one in Sask and one in New Brunswick, for goodness sake! You got any ideas how I can find out which one is the right one? Do they have marriage records for Sask and NB anywhere on here? No hurry - Im still admiring all those old pictures. I can see Im never going to get any chores done around the house. Liz
Is Loch Ness where you have the Scotch monster?
