I have an ancestor John Hinch who was born 1791 in Denton. I have found the small village of Denton Huntingdonshire between Stilton and Glatton near Yaxley. Can anyone tell me in which parish registers I should be looking for his baptism records please?
Thank you Amanda

Denton is a parish in Hunts in its own right so it's Denton parish register that you need. A transcript is available from Hunts FHS if no-one on Rootschat is able to help

This area of the country is so new to me and confusing; not only do the counties around Peterborough keep changing, there are two villages called Denton very close to each other: one in Northamptonshire and the other in Huntingdonshire.
I have ordered the microfiche of Denton parish registers, let's hope I find my Hinch!
Best wishes Amanda

When you asked for Denton Hunts I hadn't read your earlier thread which showed that his birthplace was actally Denton Northants. The Denton in Hunts was always in Hunts, never Northants, although it is only a mile from the Northants boundary.. However it is only just south of Peterborough in the general area where John lived.
The Denton in Northants is 25 miles away, just east of Northampton.
Good luck

John Hinch is listed as being born in Denton Northants in 1841 & 51 censuses and Denton Hunts in 1861 census. A kind RootsChatter searched for Hinches in Denton Northants and found nothing. In all census he was living in Orton Waterville so my guess is that it is the Denton in Hunts!
Do you happen to know whether the Orton Waterville parish registers have survived and where I could find them?

If you use that genuki link I gave you it tells you which registers have survived! Just about all of them.
If you check the LDS site - place search - you'll see that the LDS has filmed them so you can order the film from, and view it at, your nearest LDS Family History Centre. Or at Huntingdon Records Office.
They're not on the IGI or BVRI, nor is a transcription available from Hunts FHS
