D/P 86/1/7 Stebbing M 1813-1837 fiche 1 of 2 page 32 entry 95
William Adams bachelor of Halstead m Mary Lewis spinster by banns 15 Jan 1823. Both made x.
Witnesses John Willis and Willm Lewsey who both signed register.
No other male Adams married here in those years.
I foolishly relied on my memory and assumed that the Salings were the same as Great and Little Bardfield. I searched a very reliable transcript (T/R 203/3 pp 136-155) for Great Bardfield and the register itself (D/P 348/1/7 M 1813-1836 fiche 1 of 1) for Little Bardfield. No William Adams marriage seen in either.
Unless you tell me that you are content that the Adams/Lewis marriage is the one you seek I'll look at both the Salings next time I'm at ERO

William's mother unknown and father name James born 1766, Little saling, Essex, now called Bardfield Saling.
William born 1801. Mary born.1801 .

I searched this parish from 1770 to 1812. No other marriages with male Adams seen in that period when I ran out of time
