Gilbert Grange Ross - marriage.

Gilbert Grange Ross was born in Thurso (N. Scotland) in 1860. In 1881 he appears in Gloucester census for 1881 as a member of ships crew. At some point c. 1885 he married Eliza Jane Gillon. There was at least one child from marriage, Donald Ross (born c. 1886). He became a doctor and for many years was the physician superintendent of Argyll and Bute Asylum in Lochgilphead in Scotland. Can find no trace of birth in England or Scotland. Perhaps parents marriage and his birth took place abroad. Any help much appreciated

Hi Tricia, to coin a phrase, Bingo! You've just found what I was looking for. The details of the census sample match info. I already have. It seems likely that Eliza Jane and Gilbert were married in India. Whether I can obtain an exact date etc  remains to be seen, but at least I can make further progress with the details you have found. Thanks for your help
