Suffolk CHIPPERFIELDS
« on: Saturday 01 March 08 12:51 GMT (UK) »

Is anyone researching Chipperfields from Suffolk. GRGR grandaddy says on 1841 census that he was born in Suffolk. All other census show St george in the east. I am getting nowhere and very disheartened. He was married in 1847 in Dublin and his fathers name is George Edward. He was born c1822
Any help please
Ann

On the marriage cert of your ancestor, does it say what the occupation of George Chipperfield was?

There is a George and Hannah in Kessingland with children in 1841 and 1851. Well, George don't seem to be about in 1841. In 1851 his occupation is given as a butcher.
I think this must be the couple from the marriage as Hannah is stated as born in Sotterley. Grin

Possibly the children were born in Kessingland.

What was the name of your g.g.grandaddy?  Wink

His Name is George and in 1851 he is on the census living in London, a cabinet maker age 30ish. He has a wife who he married in 1847 in Dublin. This is the only census that mentions Suffolk. On all of the others he says London. I wonder how he came to be out in Dublin to marry an Irish girl

How about this from the IGI

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

George Chipperfield bap. 25th October, 1820 at Kirkley, the son of George and Hannah.

Check it out, there are other children baptised to them as well.

These appear to be the children listed to George and Hannah.

Hannah, born 10/3/1819, bap. 12/3/1819 = Sotterley

Charlotte, born 15/11/1822, bap. 17/11/1822 = Kessingland

Elizabeth, bap. 7/12/1834 = Kessingland

as well as the aforementioned George.

There could be other children to this couple.

========
Other children listed in 1841 are Mary c 1827, Sarah c 1829, Eliza c 1832, and Martha c 1839.

Do you have George and Sophias marriage cert. Are you sure he may have married in Ireland, or could he have married an Irish girl in England.

If you haven't got the cert yet, how do you know the fathers name was George Edward?
