I believe that an Ann Varney married Samuel Hickford (Heckford) at All Saints Church, Leighton Buzzard 26 November 1835. Is it possible please to tell me the details on the church records, names of fathers, occ, and witnesses.
Also, if possible, children baptised at All Saints between 1835/56.
Ann died 1865, Samuel died 1878? and poss a son Harry (Henry) died 6 July 1863. Are they buried in All Saints Churchyard?
Thanks
Carol

There are a number of baptisms for their children on the IGI
PARENT SEARCH ON IGI
www.familysearch.org - On home page - click on “Advanced Search” to the right of the blue SEARCH button
Select “International Genealogical Index” from the left hand menu
Input fathers name and surname BUT only put mothers christian name as not all entries have the maiden name
REGION – select British Isles from the menu
COUNTRY – select one or “All countries”
COUNTY (will appear when you select COUNTRY) – select whichever matches what you know about the family
Click SEARCH

I do have the baps from Family Search, as there are two baps for Jane Hickford 1837 and 1843 both say parents Samuel and Ann, was wondering if there were other children not all on IGI. Do you happen to have the details what ever they might be from the parish records, would still like to have them.

Hi
Sorry - I don't have access to parish records. Re 2 Jane Hickfords. Highly likely that the 1837 Jane died and was replaced by the 1843 Jane.
Considered to be a mark of respect to name a child after it's deceased sibling in those days

Oddly, the only Hickford burial in Leighton Buzzard up to 1852 was Sarah, infant, on 24 Jan 1850
In 1851 Parratts Piece, Leighton Buzzard Samuel Hickford head marr 44 Butcher journeyman b Heath and Reach, Beds Ann Hickford wife 36 Straw bonnet sewer B Mentmore Mary Hickford dau 14 Straw bonnet sewer b Brickhill Bucks Harry Hickford son 11 straw cutter b Leighton Beds William Hickford son 9 errand boy b Leighton Jane Hickford dau 7 scholar b Leighton Amy Hickford dau 5 b Leighton Sarah Hickford dau 4 mths b Leighton
In 1841 High St Leighton Buzzard Samuel Hickford 30 butcher Born in county ("bic") Ann Hickford 25 Not bic Mary Hickford 4 Not bic Harry Hickford 2 bic William Hickford 1mth bic
Harry Heckford was baptised at Mentmore, notwithstanding he appears to have been born at Leighton Buzzard.
I can't see a baptism of Mary in either Bucks or Beds, nor is there a burial of Jane 1837-41, although I only have Mentmore burials up to 1833. I wonder though if Jane in 1837 was actually Mary.

Hi David
Thanks for your input. Harry Hickford (although Heckford in Mentmore registers) bap 1839, Ann's birthplace. I also have been unable to find a bap for Mary. Now you have mentioned about poss Jane bap 1837 was in fact Mary, figures, the vicar was known at times to make a mistake, I have a Sarah Varney being listed on IGI bap 1837 in fact Sarah turns out to be Edward. Vicar got it wrong big time. I have the Mentmore registers up to1901 if you need anything looked up.
Best wishes
Carol

Hi Tazzie
Thanks for your offer of a look up for the Marriage between Ann Varney and Samuel Hickford 26.11.1835. Anything that you can find out with regard to marriage, baps of their children and any burials would be great.
I have Ann Hickford death as 1865, Samuel Hickford 1878 and poss a son Henry (Harry) 7. July 1863.
Any time, Tazzie, hope your mum's making good progress.
Best wishes
Carol

Hi Carol ....
Had alittle time in the library not long but can confirm the marriage.
Samuel Hickford otp to Ann Varney otp married by lic. by John Wilson vicar of All Saints church Leighton Buzzard 26 Nov 1835 .Both signed in their own hand. Witnesses .... William Herbert Bennett (married Jane Hickford in 1834) Emma Hickford ? ? (cannot read last part of name).
Could it be Bennett? Was Jane - Emma Jane? I cannot yet see them them in 1841/51 to check this.
Found one baptism ....
Jane dau of Samuel & Ann of Little Brickhill butcher June 2 1837 by John Wilson vicar of All Saints Leighton Buzzard.
I will have another look as soon as.

Hi Tazzie
Firstly, sincerely hope that your mum is better.
Thank you for the mariage details of Ann Varney to Samuel Hickford. The bap for Jane 1837 is confusing as a daughter listed 1851 census is called Mary she is aged 14, then a Jane also in 1851 aged 7? Whenever you have time for any of the others, always appreciated.
Best wishes
Carol

Hi Carol ....
Thank you ... yes mum is making good progress a little tired every now and then but thats the radiotherapy kicking in.
It is possible that the first Jane died . Didn't get chance to look in burials. Both are shown on IGI both to Samuel & Ann.
It is showing 3 bapt for 1849 Ann/ Sarah / Jane 1 for 1853 Emily .
I will check for you.

Hi Tazzie
I will leave the Hickford family with you, for when you have time.
I have that Ann and Samuel Hickford had 8 children, all born L. Buzz according to 1851 census except Mary aged 14 in 1851 born Brickhill, Bucks.
Would especially like to know if Ann is buried L. Buzzard she died 1865. Samuel died in the Union Workhouse, L. Buzzard 1871, is he also buried L.B?
Only when you have time.
Thank you Best wishes
Carol

Hi Carol .....
Had a look at burials for you.
Ann Heckford buried 26 Oct 1865 LB age 50 no 2121
However could not see Samuel listed for All Saints . I do not think that the "new" cemetary in Vandyke road was opened until 1884 so I will have to check. The work house is now converted into offices in Grovebury Road but I do not think they had their own burial ground.
I did check a William Heckford death for @1837 but good grief the writing is terrible
