Hi Lynn,

The only Weatherstone I have is my other halfs 4g grandmother. I think she would be from Berwickshire Westruther Area b abt 1780 I am no further back than her but you may well be related. Is your Thomas the one who was married to Agnes Johnston? I see there was another 2 children other than the ones you mentioned born to them if it was, Jess 19/08/1821 and James 19/3/1819 on the IGI both C118034. Did Thomas and Agnes marry Eccles Berwickshire 3/6/1813? I just ask this because it would be possible that some of the ones in Westruther and Greenlaw could belong to you. I'll transcribe the MI's if you think they would be useful to you probably be over the weekend though.

Also if this is the correct family there is a Jessie Weatherston aged 22 in 1841 A servant at and living at Baillieknowe Stichill may be the one above!

Thanks Terry, yes I  believe that Agnes' mother was Agnes Johnston & had found the other 2 baptisms that you found. I also believe there is another brother Nickel/Nichol, who was witness at Benjamin's wedding. Unfortunately I've never been able to find Agnes' baptism to be positive that they are the right family, but I certainly think so. Iwould really appreciate you transcribing the MIs for me, many thanks.

Hi Mandy,

Just had a quick look for the moment to see if there is anything obvious and have found MI's for 2 of the children of Thomas and Jane;

OXNAM

In memory of Michael Oliver who died Lanton Mill 6.6.1834 aged 82 also his spouse ?  ? who died at Lanton Mill (obviously spouses name was illegible) Sorry!

In memory of Adam Oliver late weaver in Oxnam Nook who died 12.8.1795 aged 44 years and Elizabeth Bell his spouse who died 5.10.1829 aged 67 years.

Adam's grave is next to his gparents William and Isabella Herbert and Michael's is 2 away from his gparents.

Will look again later

That is interesting as My ggg grandmother's brother Benjamin was married to an Agnes, but according to his death cert, he died in 1893 at which point he would have been 69. His wife came from Ayton, but they were living in Edinburgh

Hello Terry,

this is my first post on the site, see that you have recorded MI for Elizabeth Scott, died ;6/2/1862, wife of William Emonds.
Elizabeth and William are my great great great grandparents, I have traced back too one more generation, using records from the G.R.O.S. and census lists.
My family are all from the Glasgow area, I live in Lincolnshire now and was thinking of touring Crailing and borders, spring 2009, and try and locate headstones, places were Emonds' may have worked and lived.
Do you have any other MI and church locations with the Emonds name, or could you advise me if I should look at parish records etc.

Kind Regards
Frank Emonds

Hi Frank,

I have checked the other MI books I have for both Berwickshire and Roxburghshire and there are no other Emonds.

The best place for you too go when you come up to the Borders is the Heritage Hub,  in Hawick. They hold copies of all census's, Old Parish Records etc for the Borders, as well as a wealth of other information. This is run by Scottish Borders Council is free and extremely good.

They also have copies of all the MI books which have been transcribed by the Borders Family History society, this would certainly save you a lot of wasted time trecking graveyards if there is no gravestone.

You are best to phone and book yourself in and for the first visit you need some sort of photographic id, (passport).

The phone number is 01450  360699.

Hope this helps and good luck with your family hunt when you arrive here  Smiley Smiley
