Hello Terry

this is a first for me!

If you have the time can you see if you have any Hamiltons in your MIs.
I think most of the family moved away, but I know of three who died in the area.
Mary Ann Hamilton, aged 8 months, died 18 March 1861 (parents William Hamilton and Margaret Elliot)
William Hamilton, aged 9 years, died 15 September 1877 (parents as above)
and William Hamilton married to Mary Elliot, aged 45, died 25 December 1882, run over by loaded cart.

Many thanks

Linda

Hi Linda,

I'm sorry but there are only 2 Hamilton graves with headstones in Inch Old Parish Churchyard and these are Earl and Countess of Stair and families.

Hello Terry,

Thanks for the generous offer. I am looking for BLACK, any, as they're all related, but especially William Black, miller of Innermassan, who died about 1837-1841  and his wife Agnes. They lived at Inch with their large family.

Hi Chris,

I'm sorry but there are no Blacks at all with headstones in The Old Parish Churchyard or Soulseat Burial Ground at Inch.

Please is there anybody with the Inch /Soulseat MIs who could check for BLAIN. It's a long shot, but I'm trying to track mine through the Inch farms. There might just have been a headstone at some time, for somebody...
Smiley

There was also a John Blain who went off to farm in Kirkcolm - so if you happen to see any from Kirkcolm too please...

Thanks greatly Terry!  It's the older ones that I'm interested in. There were a whole bunch of Blains in the 18th and early 19th century and I'm trying to sort out which ones are who... things like the mention of William Blain being 'tenant at Ringnillie' are precious!

The one about the shoemaker in Stranraer - only if there is any mention of whose daughter Jane Blain was. There was a Janet or Jessie born around 1820, father William Blain, and a Jean or Jane b. around 1825, father Peter.

The Bennoch one looks potentially very interesting indeed - yes please.  I have a Jean or Jane b. around 1778. I'll try looking for the Bennoch/Blain marriage.

Some of the names of the 18th century people (who may well have lived into the 19th c.) - James, Patrick/Peter, Robert, Jean/Jane, Janet, William, Thomas, Charles.

A James Blain who appears to have been tenant at Dalhabboch married Janet McBryde in 1777. Any mentions of MacBrydes are interesting to me too.

All best,
Jenny

Terry - updating info a little bit. A Mary McKibbon was married to James Blain in 1782... I'd be very interested in any McKibbon (or McCubbins) MIs also!

All best,

Hi Jenny, Smiley

There are no McCubbin(s) or McKibbon in Inch but there are two in Kirkcolm.  Do you want them.
