Suffolk Baptisms - FISK
« on: Sunday 24 February 08 21:15 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for the birth of George Fisk, born circa 1800/1801 possibly in Suffolk (possibly Norfolk so will post on that board too).

Does anyone have a Suffolk Baptism Index that they could look at for me please?

Selina

Hi Selina

I have several parish registers on microfiche (as well as quite a few Fisks in my tree).

George Fisk is not an uncommon name and Suffolk's a pretty big county. Any idea whereabouts your George came from?

In the meantime you might want to browse this website:
http://www.fiskes.co.uk/

and here is the page for Fisk(e)s with a first name starting "G":

Many thanks Dave, will look at that site.

I am afraid that I have no idea of the parish that George came from.

He was in Essex at the time of the 1841 Census and is given as not born in County.  He died shortly after that.  He had married in Essex to an Essex girl.

Could be that he came from Norfolk, actually I suppose he could have come from anywhere!  I am just trying the most likely Counties where I think there may be slight family links.

Hi,

Looking for any baptisms/marriages/deaths for any person whose surname is Speller.  Probably from Bury St Edmunds area.  Can anyone help please?

Thanks,

Hi harrywrag,

Many thanks for those two links.  Both look good, and especially as on the second one (gravestonephotos) I immediately saw that there were the gravestones of two of the wives of  the 2 x Gt. Grandfather of a fellow Fisk researcher who lives abroad.  So he will be pleased to hear of that!!

Best wishes,

Selina
