Help in finding a father.....
« on: Sunday 02 March 08 19:54 GMT (UK) »

I don't know whether this next mysterof mine is solvable but I figure if anyone can get to the bottom of it... this is the place to be  Grin

This what I know:

My gr gr gradmother was a Sarah Jane Lambert. She was born 22 March 1847 and her mother was Modesty Ann Lambert.

The birth was registered in Holbeach in March 1847 by Modesty. She was unmarried. The birth certificate gives place of birth as Holbeach Bank and the father as possibly Edward Hill. He was a labourer.

In the 1851 Census Modesty (30) and Jane (4) (she is now referred to as this from now on in until 1901) were visiting William and Frances Tukes at 130 Gedney Dyke.

Next door at 131 were Luke (37)and his wife Mary Hill (41) . Don't know if this is relevant or not though.

Modesty has Jane baptised on 12 Oct 1850 at All Saints Holbeach. She calls herself Ann Lambert. No mention of a father.

Modesty marries Robert Grimer in 1852 and goes on to have 3 more children.

Sarah J marries George Jackson in 1876 and uses Robert as her father

I'd love to find Edward or any possibles for him.

Any help appreciated

Melanie

I'd love to find Edward or any possibles for him.

One possible could have been the chap buried at Spalding 6 Sept 1848 aged 30.
