Hi can would anyone like to help me? I would like to know more about an ancestor of mine. His name was George Emmett of I believe Budleigh Salterton. He married someone called Ann (surname unknown). He was born about 1760. George and Ann had 7 children named John, Samuel, Elizabeth, William, Elizabeth, Thomas and Henry.
What I would like to know is whether George had any brothers or sisters, and who he descended from. Also Anns Surname. I do have a basic descendant tree of George just relating to myself but if anyone would like to find out a bit more about them such as where they were living and who all the children married I would be happy to give more details.
Looking forward to hearing from someone.

there is a submitted entry on the IGI

date; 28th november 1790.
place; east budleigh,devon.
parents. george emmett-ann taylor.
this is only a submitted entry so should be treated with caution.

Hi Thanks for replying.
This is the correct family. I remember now that some of them were born in Ottery. It is only about 10 mins drive...although not in those days!!
The Samuel you mention is a brother to John (who I descend from). He is one of the children of George and Ann.
Can you find out any more info on George and Prudence for me please. Such as children they had apart from George (1772)

Thanks for looking into this for me. If you fancy looking any further I would appreciate it if you could look into brothers and sisters of both Georges and also if you can find any ancestors for George (prudences husband). Also do you know Prudences Maiden name

the only george -prudence marriage i can find is this one
george emmett-prudence bidgood
marr. 16th march 1759
place. woodbury,devon.

not sure this is them it seems quiet a long gap till their first child (8 years)
plus different area in devon
again i do not know how far apart woodbury and ottery st.marys is.

this is the only george that i can find that in anyway would fit
christening.

this and the marriage posted previously could quiet easily be nothing to do with your george.

Woodbury, Ottery st Mary, and Budleigh Salterton, East Budleigh......all outskirts of Exeter Devon. Only a few miles between each.

go to the familysearch homepage
at the top of that page you will see 4 squares inserted into them are various options they are
home,search,share,library
click on the search one
it should then take you to another page where it says search for ancestors-all resources
on the left hand side you should see a menu
amongst the options in this menu is international geneological index
click on that and away you go.
if you have any problems finding it or using it let me know and i will try to help you.
