Hi,
I am hoping to make contact with the descendants of the Bristol branch of the Mazzie family.
My Mazzie ancestors (wich was originally spelt Mazzei) originated from Lucca Province in Italy, and my Great-Great-Great Grandfather (Ferdinando Mazzei (1819-1904) settled in Cardiff. His brother, Giovanni Mazzei (1813-1872) settled in Bristol, and it is through his son, George Edward Mazzie (1865-1924) that the Bristol Mazzie name survives.
I have loads of photo's regarding the Cardiff Mazzie's, but unfortunately I don't have any of the Bristol Mazzie's. I have managed to make contact with some of George's great-grandchildren, but unfotunately none of them have any photo's.
There were 2 Bristol Mazzie's killed in WWI (Frederick Thomas Mazzie (1896-1915) and William John Mazzie (1894-1918), but for some reason they served under the surname Massey.
I have left an interesting excerpt from the Western Daily Press in 1866 about the death of one of Giovanni's children below.
With daughters marrying, some of the surname of George's ancestors may be:-
Sharpe; Banfield; James; Timmins; Rollitt; Alway; Lewis.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Regards,
Darin, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
