Celia has been looking up William (Ferriday) Evans for me, he was a coach builder but John Guy, wheelwright, is a new name to me. I can't think how my name has got attached to your request. Think there must be a mistake Joanna, sorry I can't add more.

Hi there,
Looking at your posts you are looking for Gabriel's in Liverpool. I am looking too and wondered if you had come across mine.
My great great great grandfather is James Samuel Gabriel but I can't find his father William Gabriel who is a shoe maker. Is this one of your relatives

Hi Celia I would be really grateful if you could have a look in the 1839 Directory for Edward MCVEY - he was a carpenter/shipwright. I have him living in Henderson Street in 1843.
Many thanks Dorothy

Hi Celia
If you get a chance could you look for a Samuel Clough LEATHWOOD. His wife is Hannah Barnes BARROW nee NEWTON, they were married in St Nicholas church Liverpool 31 Aug 1832. My next sighting of them is 1841 Dryden St Edge Lane and 1851 Britannia Tce Everton. It would be good to fill in the gaps. I've given his wife's details in case any one makes a connection, I don't expect you'll find her. Although he dies/disappears after 1851.
Thanks with my fingers crossed in anticipation. jo

Hi Celia,
Can I take you up on your kind offer and ask for a lookup for Richard WHITTAKER, Watch Spring Maker?
He appears in the 1824 Baines Directory at 15 Bevington Bush, but isn't on the 1841 census. I'm trying to pin down his death some time between those two dates.
Thanks a lot,
Arkay

Hello ShaunJ
We exchanged on 2 April about William Ferriday Evans of Liverpool and his business card. You said the 4 digit number would probably date from the 1920s but William appears in the 1896 telephone Liverpool directory at 3-5 Falkland Street Liverpool with number 5319.
Thanks for drawing my attention to the London Gazette entries which are of great interest to me. The last one, of 1871, shows William facing the Bankruptcy Act of 1869 but he appears to still be around as a Coach Builder in 1896.
I haven't found a death record for William Ferriday Evans so how long the business lasted is unknown.

Hi ShaunJ
Thanks for the extra information on WF Evans, that he is listed in 1899/1900 telephone directory. Nothing known of his demise - he is not with his wife Eliza and family in 1901 in Edge Lane Liverpool and Free BMD/Lancs BMD has no death listed.
I will have to wait for the release of 1911 and see what is recorded.
Gerry
