The Carmelites in Moate
C.1770 the site of the present church and priory was secured for the order by Mr. Potts who was a member of the Clibborn family. In 1845 the Prior of Moate, Father John Flynn established, a boys’ school and a girls’ school. At a later date St. Kyran’s Academy for second level pupils was opened by the order.
